Under the guidance of a mentor, the WWII Marketing Intern will assist the Museum & Library’s External Affairs team in development, cultivation and distribution of content related to WWII for the Museum & Library’s website, social media profiles and other channels.

Chicago History Museum Making History Award Oral History Project

Since 1995, Prof. Timothy Gilfoyle has conducted oral history interviews with most of the recipients of the Making History Awards, given annually by the Chicago History Museum (CHM) to Chicagoans whose enduring contributions to the city and metropolitan region made them figures of historic importance. The interviews were conducted with audiotape or an audio recorder and have been transcribed. The transcriptions, however, have never been formally processed by CHM and made available to researchers or the public.

Meet the Fall 2016 Undergraduate History Interns

This fall semester, four Loyola History majors are processing archival collections, learning about the history and workings of communication in a major law firm, reconstructing the household of an English queen, and mapping the movement of Catholics and books across the antebellum Midwest. All are enrolled in HIST 398: The History Undergraduate Internship. In return for interning on a history-related project at an institution or with a faculty member of their choosing, they are receiving 3 credits hours towards their degree and the Engaged Learning Credit. The Chicago Council on Global Affairs offers undergraduate juniors and seniors, and graduate students the opportunity to learn about our organization and participate in a variety of duties associated with ongoing projects through its internship program. While internship responsibilities vary by department, tasks may include researching, assisting at Council events, writing communications and assisting in the development of promotional materials, audience and outreach development, and administrative duties. Please note that all interns will provide some program support during their internship; with over 150 programs each year, this will add to the internship experience.

The Great Lakes Naval Museum is currently accepting applications for an Archives-Special Collections intern and a Museum Education intern during the summer of 2016. The museum’s archives and special collections consist of donated personal papers, photographs, and rare printed books and ephemera from enlisted men and women in the U.S. Navy worldwide.
