Chicago Anchors for a Strong Economy (CASE) Internships

Chicago Anchors for a Strong Economy (CASE), an initiative of World Business Chicago, is hiring two (2) program interns for the Winter/Spring term. We would like to begin interviewing for the positions as soon as possible.

An initiative of WBC, Chicago Anchors for a Strong Economy (CASE) is a network of prominent Chicago anchor institutions – healthcare, higher education, cultural and others -- committed to collectively accelerating neighborhood economic development through local purchasing and hiring. CASE collaborates with anchor institutions to advance community impact by connecting with vetted local businesses, develops opportunities for small businesses by building capacity through advisory and workforce development services, and engages with community partners to strengthen the local business ecosystem.

Internship Responsibilities

The intern will report to Program Manager:
  • Responsible for conducting community-oriented research, performing quantitative and qualitative analyses and developing coherent and implementable recommendations for action 
  • Assisting in marketing activities such as social media creative content, bi-weekly update content, and quarterly newsletter creation 
  • Tracking major developments or policies related to CASE goals in communities and identifying potential intervention strategies 
  • Assist in the preparation of documents, events, presentations and reports for external and internal stakeholders 
  • Performing other duties as required to support the day-to-day operations of CASE 
Internship Qualifications

The candidate should have demonstrated experience and/or abilities in the following areas:
  • Have familiarity with purpose, scope, and process of applicable regional public policy 
  • Knowledge of local challenges to inclusive economic growth in the Chicagoland region 
  • Experience or interest working with government, not-for-profit and other partners to support business and workforce development and growth 
  • Be an analytical and creative thinker, able to help CASE better understand the policies that impact Chicagoland anchor institutions 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment 
  • Ability to work both autonomously as well as collaborate with a dynamic multidisciplinary team 
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills 
  • Experience or relevant coursework in marketing, communications, political science, public administration, public policy, urban planning, or other related areas is preferred 
  • Social Media experience is preferred 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite 
  • Graphic art experience is helpful 
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, with program management skills. The candidate should have the ability to deliver high-quality outputs on time with the ability to work well independently or with a team, and should have a demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with executive level leadership. We seek candidates with strong interpersonal written/verbal communications skills and a passion for civic engagement and economic development.

Expected start date and hours per week: Available Immediately / 16-40 hours per week, based upon availability
