Internships at the Winnetka Historical Society

The Winnetka Historical Society is currently seeking unpaid interns for Summer 2016 to work on ongoing projects in the following areas:
• Museum Collections: Catalog, photograph/scan, and rehouse artifacts, documents, and photographic materials. Train in object handling, museum registration procedures, and the PastPerfect museum software system.

• Media / Website: Research and create text and images for online exhibitions and online research tools. Write social media posts and blog entries.

• Historic Preservation: Aid in completion of Winnetka Historic Building Survey. Photograph houses, conduct historical research in the Village of Winnetka & WHS Building files, and enter information into a master survey document.

Internships are part-time and offered Monday-Friday at the Museum at 411 Linden St in Winnetka, IL. New media focused work may offer the opportunity to work some of the time off-site. The position is adaptable to individual interests, so interns may have the opportunity to work in more than one of the areas listed above and can help develop their own areas of focus. We encourage students to apply for academic credit for their work.
