Another Spring Opportunity - in Rogers Park

The Rogers Park/West Ridge Historical Society is seeking an intern to assist in compiling information in support of the Satellite Exhibits project. This program identifies vacant or available storefronts within the two neighborhoods for site-specific installations highlighting the history of the building and showcasing the resources of the society.

Interns will work in cooperation with the Satellite Exhibits Committee to develop historic narratives, analyze architectural characteristics, and investigate neighborhood demographics using both primary and secondary sources. Interns are encouraged to bring their own interests and expertise to the project. Knowledge of available historic resources in Chicago (Newberry Library, Chicago History Museum, Ryerson and Burnham Libraries, etc.) would be useful, but not required, for this position.

The Rogers Park/ West Ridge Historical Society preserves and shares the ever changing historical narrative of both the Rogers Park and West Ridge neighborhoods. The Rogers Park/ West Ridge Historical seeks provide the community with a resource to link the present with the past. If you’re interested in becoming an intern contact Jared Matthews (J.matthews@rpwrhs.org) the volunteer resource manager for the historical society or stop by the Rogers park/ West Ridge Historical Society office at 1447 W. Morse Chicago, IL 60626 on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday between 2-6. We look forward to working with you.
