Summer Museum and Library Internship at Scottish Rite of Chicago

The Scottish Rite, a Masonic Organization comprising members from all over the Chicagoland area, is looking for a summer museum and library intern to catalogue and maintain its collection. Many of its items have not been properly catalogued and recorded. It will be the intern’s job to document items and artifacts, as well as create new displays for Museum.   In its new facility in Bloomingdale the Rite has a large collection of historical items including some rare artifacts and books.

Payment: The internship is unpaid, but we will award a $800-$1000 travel stipend.

Length: June-August. Hours are very flexible. We are looking for someone who can come in at least two days a week or more. But we will around any sort of other work schedule and vacation.

Qualifications: Intern must be a self starter; much of the work will be unsupervised. Historical knowledge of the Masonic Fraternity and the Chicago area is a plus. Any sort of previous museum work is very useful.

Location: Scottish Rite Chicago, 383 E. Lake St. Bloomingdale, IL 60108

This position will have a lot of flexibility and responsibility. This person will be like a mini Museum Curator, capable of developing their own system and guidelines for how they want to work. Their creativity will be called upon to make displays and research skills will be needed to document many of our previously untouched items.
